If you cuddle them when they're frigtened, it makes everyone feel better. Not a recommendation, but I had success with crushed gravol in their food a couple hours before road time. It keeps them mellow.

We have a seat belt harness, when ever our dog goes in the car. A blanket with his favourite toy goes on any journey! He settles with ease & safer.

A pet carrier, bungeed down, would be much safer for them if you are involved in an accident. And if they're in it together, it will ease the one pup's fears. Soft blanket and a couple of soft toys to chew one, besides an ear, ha ha. Cutie pies.
