Looking from below along the West Pier towards the lighthouse. From the lighthouse, an extension of the Pier is reached along a narrow walkway towards the end of the Pier.
Along the beach, the last ebb of a wave can be seen stretching towards the horizon the Pier, cliffs and Abbey of Whitby are in the far distance. There are a few people and Dogs on the shore.

An outstanding example of 14th century Gothis architecture was founded by the Bruce family relatives of Robert the Bruce King of Scotland.
