There is no need to track location to figure out payment. The current system works for consumers without giving out real time location data. The world doesn't need more subscription services. We have passes that we can buy for work or school for routes that we take.

They tried this in Sydney with "Opal+" basically paying upfront per month to get "unlimited" travel. The pricing tiers were ridiculous and they dropped it almost immediately.
