Searches for "SEO" on Google trends were fairly stable for a decade, then a sudden spike early this year when AI search results destroyed the web as it was and people suddenly started searching for how to do Search Engine Optimization, then kind of gave up.

Presumably related -- if you look up search terms associated with paranoid delusions on Google Trends, they've have recent upward trends in the last few years as people presumably get unmoored from reality and fall down AI generated rabbit holes.
