Introduced in Windows 95 build 58s (1993), it was 1st known as (File) Cabinet or Chicago Explorer (after 95’s codename, Chicago). It was renamed Windows Explorer before 95’s release, & became File Explorer in Windows 8 (2012).

I wish they would separate explorer from dwm and all that because it creates so many issues
This is the ideal File Manager. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.
