To avoid what? Talking? Discussing the confusion? Asking, "what's this mean?" The fear of stopping play at the table, when the discussion IS the play. The confusion about the rules IS the play. It's all play. There is no pure essence of play that is lost through the breaking of a fourth wall, or the stepping out of a role, or the remembrance of your real, lived life outside the fictional world. It's all there. It's all there all the time. Don't ignore it. Stop trying to ignore it.
