This book was, for me, a hidden gem, and after reading it I went ahead and got the rest of the series. I will try to explain what I liked without too many spoilers. First, the characters are relatable, imperfect, and complex. What appeared initially to be a simple good v. bad story becomes a much more complicated plot; there are certainly convincing villains you will love to hate, but there are also characters that are much more grey than they appear at first blush, and the main characters - Geoff, Lou, etc' - are strong people with whole personality. Second, there is a fascinating alternative historical aspect, exposed slowly. It's internally credible (it has werewolves and vampires, so "realistic" might be the wrong term) and adds a layer. Third, the story is full of twists, and likely will not end where you expect, without being unconvincing. Fourth, the world building is credible and consistent. And it has strong characters male and female. Fifth, it resolves the issues, but leaves more to come. I don't like book that stop completely midway, and this one does not do that. All together, it's a really good book, I am looking forward to the next ones. and am going to reread this.
Those who grew up reading Gene De Weese's "The Adventures of a Two-Minute Werewolf" and later came to enjoy espionage thrillers will want to give this book a try. Werewolves are presented in a folksy, relatable, and empathetic manner akin to the former, which came out long before paranormal romance and Omegaverse tropes became synonymous with shifters of every type. Espionage thriller fans ought to enjoy the intrigue surrounding a US government agency so secret that it doesn't even *have* a TLA, hearkening back to the Founding and featuring several of the Founding Fathers themselves. (World-weary old hand Agent Mitchum was my favorite character in a narrative with surprises in store even for him.) The wolves of Geoffskari are all unique and interesting. Each have made their pack mates their adoptive family, and clan leader Geoff Cooper leads by example in caring for each other and protecting them all. But will that be enough? Readers will have to pick up the book and find out for themselves. Though they may want to plan on purchasing at least the first two books of the series and read them one right after the other, given the frustratingly abrupt cliffhanger this first book ends on.
Right up my alley! Suspense, mystery, political intrigue, originality and an engaging storyline. What more could I ask for?! For someone who isn't a big werewolf fan, this book exceeded my expectations and made me want more - no I need more and I'm excited to see what comes next.
This book is a different take on the Werewolves aspect and I liked it! I loved the whole family aspect between Geoff and his "pack". The book has it all from mysterious things happening, frustrating road blocks and the touch of a loving pack that takes care of one another no matter what! The ending was unexpected in the best way although it pulled at the heart strings in the end. The books is perfect for anyone that likes the Werewolves aspect in books. It's a great book and I recommend checking it out and can't wait to check out book 2
Sins of the Forefathers is an intriguing story of a pack of werewolves in their human form migrating to a new home across the country. It is a most interesting story of the trials and tribulations of a werewolf pack trying to live a quiet life away from the bias of their species. When pack leader Geoff Cooper moves his pack to Washington, D.C. to begin a new existence free of the tensions and warring of aggressive surrounding packs, he finds that being the only pack in the nationā€™s capital will not provide the easy, peaceful existence he envisioned. Little did he realize that he and his pack would become the focus of a shadow government agency intent on forcing them from their new home to prevent stirring up a centuries-old government secret. The plot reads like a spy thriller novel, and the plot moves fast and furious. The characters are likeable and give great insight on the human side of the werewolf culture (if it really did exist). Iā€™m not usually a fan of werewolf stories and I was pleasantly surprised how the story immediately drew me in and kept me captive to the end. It was a great read, and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting an entertaining story of intrigue and suspense.

More insight into Geoff's history. You learn more about what's shaped his life, and even see a few hints of him becoming a pack leader one day. Great mix of action, suspence, and drama. Highly recommend!
A great read. A great prequel. Geoff is an interesting character, so it is great to see how he became a werewolf. It also delves into the pack and their roles which is helpful and also builds this author's world. Diana may say his infection story was easy compared to others, but the emotional stress he is going through is still traumatic. From an abusive and controlling home to a controlling pack, that is hell. The story flowed well, kept my interest and I look forward to learning more about Geoff as the series progresses. I would recommend this series for werewolf lovers, and I would happily read more.
Such a great sequel. Had me on the edge of my seat. I mean, witches, werewolves, and monsters?! Plus the most epic fight scenes I've ever read!
Good afternoon Mr Wiselln, I just read Scar: a "Law of Teeth" story. I fell in love with Geoff and his struggles right away. Surviving an abusive home environment myself, I can certainly relate, in part. Yes, it does leave it scars, some that never truly heal. They shape you into who you become, as you do your best to move past the pain, to become the person you wish to be. You've put so much thought into your characters and fleshed them out so wonderfully. I'm already a loyal fan! I am looking forward to all your books and stories in, "The Law of Teeth" universe! I'd like to read them in the correct order, following Geoff as a teen, learning how to adjust to the werewolf rules and life. Which one do I read next, while he is still with the same pack? Followed by his next phase as his character continues to evolve. Thank you for this and your great story telling!

Review: "I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. The author does a phenomenal job building the characters. Geoff Cooper is the main character. In the book, we get to witness his coming of age and dealing with adolescence. We are able to see what it's like for him to experience the transition into a Lycan, the struggles he has, and how he is "trained" to control his urges and shifting. M. D. Wiselln does a fantastic job at bringing this story and world to life. It is a prequel and an absolute must-read!! I will be adding the other books "Sins of the Forefathers" and "Bloody Justice" on the top of my TBR list."
Review: "Nice pacing, great action scenes This book takes up almost exactly where "Sins" left off. With the characters introduced and the scene set Wisellin wastes no time in getting down to business. Can't wait for the book in the series."
Genre: Wolf Shifter Triggers: Violence, Mild Gore, Mild Spice, Abuse 5/5 Growing up we were always told to not venture into the forest alone. That there were dark and scary things in the forest at night. What if it is the only safe place you know? Is everything that comes through the forest still so scary? Wiselln does a phenomenal job of building character development through this prequel. The main character Geoff Cooper progresses throughout the book and the reader gets to tag along while he learns about adolescent life and his coming of age. This theme continues throughout the entire book and we get to meet the other characters that Wiselln has created. The reader is brought along to witness how one persons life experiences and interactions shape them into the person they will become. Highly recommend this book. Will have to check out the rest of the series as well.

Geoff closed his eyes briefly, knowing this was just another regret to throw on the pile. He'd accumulated quite a few of them over the years as a Fadirulf ā€“ some from sheer inexperience, and others from situations like this one, where the only way forward was a hard road.
This is M. D. Wiselln's third published book in the Law of Teeth universe (though it is first chronologically) and once again, he really brings Geoff Cooper to life! "Scars" is more than an origin story or an infection story...it's a coming-of-age story with universal themes that everyone can relate to, despite being about werewolves. And it really showcases his range of writing talent; the other books focus on world-building, action/suspense, and the storyline but "Scars" is an exploration of how life experiences shape the person you become. And just like his other books, the characters are the superstars of the book. Although it's a whole new cast (save for Geoff Cooper, of course), they have distinct traits and personalities so none of them ever feel like they've been "recycled" from other books. Although "Scars" can be read on its own, I HIGHLY recommend reading "Sins of the Forefathers" and "Bloody Justice" first - you will NOT be disappointed!

Review: What can I say about Wiselln's writing? While "Sins of the Forefathers" was intriguing, with deep rivers of history and world-building, "Bloody Justice" is full of action and suspense! Wiselln's writing style is basically that of a an all-around MVP - he can do suspense, intrigue - anything. I can't wait for the next one and the continuation of this great story!
"You mean you can't just use your super spy technology to find them?" Geoff asked, raising his hands and miming typing on a keyboard. "Werewolves, Mr. Cooper. Our entire intelligence-gathering operation has, from the beginning, been calibrated to search out the characteristics and life events unique to werewolves."

Review: "This book was clever, the pacing and sharing of knowledge, frameworks and metaphysics were consistent and continued to grow on the foundations made. The characters were genuine and real, including the shady overseers and the villain! The insight into the monsterā€™s mind was unnerving and every time I thought the Pack was ahead, a wrench was tossed in. Highly recommend this book for an immersive drama."

This book picks up nicely from the events of Book 1. Given how things were when we left off, the tone of Forged In Moonlight is more serious. I wouldn't consider it overly dark and it's well in line with the style of the first book, but there are fewer opportunities for lighter, more whimsical moments as the story picks up. It felt to me like the story needed some time to find traction, but once the main thrust of the plot picked up, things proceeded at a nice clip. I really appreciated how Nyssa was suffering from PTSD-like symptoms after the climax of the first book - that would be totally expected from what she went through and it's a nice touch of realism. In addition, as frustrating as I found her insistence that she not burden her friends with her own fears and traumas, that is very believable. I like it when characters make bad choices - overly perfect characters are trite and boring. I will admit there were a few sections where I had a hard time understanding what was REALLY happening to Nyssa. Between her PTSD, the power of the nightbane, and the possibility that there was real danger in the moment, I was sometimes unclear what the stakes actually were. That might have just been me, or a deliberate attempt by the author to put the reader in Nyssa's confused headspace. If it was the latter, it was quite effective, though a device like that starts to lose its effectiveness if overused. I'm also picking up a really slow burn relationship budding (I won't say who because of spoilers) and that is also a nice touch. Oftentimes those things are rushed which makes them seem forced. I like how things are able to play out in their own time. Overall, this was an exciting follow-up, and I will definitely be following Nyssa's adventures in the next installment!
