The average american is so not ready for how outlandishly cruel we are, it literally sounds impossible to them. Yet the purpose of a system is what it does.
The United States is the land of the free. Specifically, the court system being free to completely ignore you if their counterintelligence service mistakenly kidnaps you, tortures you for months, and then dumps you on a desolate road in Albania after Condoleezza Rice has to order your release twice
