Perrault; I am writing today to join my voice with fellow Canadians concerned about possible election interference by Elon Musk and others using the social media platform known as X/Twitter. It has been clear for some time that X/Twitter is no longer "just" a platform. Since Musk purchased it, it's become a favoured instrument of foreign actors working to undermine Canadian democracy (indeed, democracies around the wold!) and interfere in our elections. The total lack of content moderation on X/Twitter makes it perfectly suited for spreading disinformation. Musk's own public statements that he intends to use the platform to try and influence the outcome of our upcoming federal election has raised the stakes considerably. In my view, the threat of foreign interference raised by these developments is substantial and serious enough to warrant your intervention. Please use whatever powers are available to you to investigate and neutralize the grave risk X/Twitter and Elon Musk pose to our democracy and election integrity as quickly as possible. I have copied my MP, Rick Perkins, so he is aware these concerns are shared by an increasing number of his constituents - whatever their political stripes. Canadians have a constitutional right to free and fair elections, and are demanding that all our political representatives step up to support democracy at this challenging time. Thank you. Sincerely,
