He should have at least make in ambiguous whether the translation is correct or not, with the option of either developing it further in the future or just leaving it be.

Also there is no way Kal wouldn't show that message to Kara since she understands the language, not to mention that she probably already knew about it from her own father and would have confronted Kal about it at some point.
