I write to you today, in this very perishable instant. My hips wound tight, spring coils in them clenched with binding rust. Mind pliant, pink eraser rubbing off in strands with any applied pressure. I am a bowl of fruit bought yesterday and now forgotten. The whole family has gone out to miss the heated hours I cannot escape, being inert, and I am left alone in the quiet kitchen, rotting. My chest a clutch of tangerines beginning to smell sharply of rind and earth. My arms bananas bruised soft and sickly sweet. My eyes cherries receding toward their pits. By the time anyone notices the rate of my decay I will be unsalvageable.
