on the subject of miniatures of planets, i love the huge to-scale planetarium of our solar system that is spread over the entirety of Sweden! The sun is represented by a spherical arena in our capital en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweden_...
1/12 isn't a common model scale. Model cars are usually 1/25 while 1/48 common for houses and aircraft with 1/87 for trains and 1/144 and 1/350 for ships. I feel like HO Earth would have the most modeling potential.
