An imagine of the Pine Tree Flag (or the An Appeal to Heaven Flag) which was one of the flags used during the American Revolution. The flag, which featured a pine tree with the motto "An Appeal to Heaven", or less frequently "An Appeal to God", was used by a squadron of six schooners commissioned under George Washington's authority as commander-in-chief of the Continental Army beginning in October 1775. The pine tree is a traditional symbol of New England. The phrase "appeal to heaven" appears in John Locke's Second Treatise on Government, where it is used to describe the right of revolution. Essentially, if appeals to the morality of the oppressors was not going to accomplish the goal of equality and protection, the oppressed would have no other choice but to appeal to a higher being… the implication being that the oppressed would be happy to deliver their oppressors to that higher being if necessary.

The parties are standing in the middle of the street surrounded by onlookers. The photograph documents of a type of normalized sexual assault, as the people pictured in the photograph did not previously know one another before the “celebratory embrace” as it has been described in media. The widely agreed-upon identity of the woman who is a subject in the photograph, dental assistant Greta Zimmer Friedman, had also explicitly stated that the kiss she was subjected to, was not a consensual act, that he just "grabbed" her. Judith Slaying Holofernes c. 1620, now at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence,[1] is the renowned painting by Baroque artist Artemisia Gentileschi depicting the assassination of Holofernes from the apocryphal Book of Judith. Holofernes struggles in vain to press against Abra as the two women force him down with distinctly strong arms.[4] Their sleeves are rolled up, as though they are performing an unavoidable domestic chore, and their faces express a staunch resolve. It was streaming children’s music for my 2 1/2 year old and began playing “I Wish I Was in Dixie” from an album titled “Patriotic Songs for Kids” "Dixie", also known as "Dixie's Land", "I Wish I Was in Dixie", and other titles, is a song about the Southern United States first made in 1859. "Dixie" originated in the minstrel shows of the 1850s and quickly became popular throughout the United States. During the American Civil War, it was adopted as a de facto national anthem of the Confederacy. New versions appeared at this time that more explicitly tied the song to the events of the Civil War. In all, I don’t appreciate my toddler being indoctrinated, but if you’re going to do it, don’t do it on behalf of the US Civil War south, and don’t claim you’re being “patriotic” doing it.
