Idea is, add a simple Encryption Enabled flag at the PDS level, so clients can state whether posts are encrypted or not. Then do encryption at the client level - use the invite code system to set up an encryption invite system, and then accepting an invite swaps PGP keys between participants client-side. From there, you just post normally and check the "encrypt" box when you post. Anyone you've swapped PGP keys with will automatically decrypt your post on their end. Everyone else will either see encrypted garbage (if they're reading direct from firehose) or nothing at all (clients can filter out non-shared encryption keys). It'd require having local keystores per client but I don't think that'd be any heavier than the current way DMs are implemented?
