My wife has cared for injured small birds for 45 years. It has not been unrewarding. She has been able to work with the University of Puget Sound and with Cornell University. But yes, it takes up most of your life.

I used to find animals all the time that needed help. But then my health went bad and I asked if it could let up a little bit. I have not found an injured animal since then. These days they'd have to come to me in my recliner! ...for those who celebrate, this is a Step 3. #AA

looks like a Kestrel, a small falcon
We have a family of Kestrels in our yard. Hope this one recovers ok, they are great birds and in decline.
We had a hawk get in trouble on the farm recently. We called a veterinary school emergency number and the put us in contact with Owl Ridge Raptor Center. Long shot you can contact them and they can at least give you guidance. One of thier ambassador birds is a rescued kestrel. owlridge.org

It's not snuggling, it's paralyzed with fear. Put it in a box in a dim, quiet place until you can find a certified rehabber to take it.
It’s an American kestrel. Call any local vet, they should know of a Rehabber for raptors. This bird needs immediate help. Most wildlife rehabbers run out of room for songbirds and other animals at this time of year, but NEVER raptors. Please continue to reach out
I find hurt or needy animals so often that the wildlife center and most rescues recognize my number and answer with "What now?"

Some states have a “raptor center” that will pick up and rehabilitate injured hawks owls, etc
Looks old enough to fly. Best put the hawk outside in a tree where the parents can look after it. If you keep it it may become imprinted on humans and unable to survive in the wild as a free bird because it will keep going to humans who will harm it when its talons injured them when it lands on them

If she's a nestling, you can probably just hang onto her until she flies off on her own. My aunt used to rescue birds and that's usually what happened.

Find a wild bird conservation group in your area
If you are in the Northeast, take it to "A Place Called Hope" in Killingworth, CT. The helped rehab a Red Tail I found that had a concussion. youtu.be/6lF6qq5_lz0

Awww, looks like a young Kestrel. Are windows close by leading to a possible window strike? Kestrels nest in tree cavities... I do agree with others to contact a possible wildlife rehabber, they may be able to ask questions to give you an idea how to proceed.

Aww. Avian Flu crossover usually happens from unsafe dirty conditions and it is quite rare for it to happen. It should be okay and ODIN will be pleased with your efforts...one can Hawk into Mordor after all
