In a small wildflower patch that was scythed and roughly-mown several weeks ago we spied something blue...a Meadow Cranesbill plant has opened one flower, with 2 more buds about to open.

An Oak Tree a Day Just starting out, but with big hopes and big plans this newly sprouted valley oak (Quercus lobata) may one day rival its brethren or maybe carry on the tradition of what makes our natural areas so special. California #nativePlants #nature. 805ers, stay alert, ICE is rampant‼️

Our biannual Service Project in the Park was held a couple of weekends ago. This year's Fall Service Project saw 36 volunteers plant nearly 1,700 native plants in the Museum Park's lower meadow. We'll be offering another opportunity in the spring, and we'd love to have you join us🌱

Good morning BlueSky Migraine fully gone : hooray! Sliver of encouraging property update yesterday (but still holding our breath …) Better day ahead methinks! I like this combination, a year ago in the French garden, Solidago rugosa ‘Fireworks’ mingling with Sambucus nigra f. porphyrophylla 'Eva'

Happy Aloha Friday and Big Mahalo to today's tremendous team! So wonderful to have folks put hand to the land and restore native plants as well as learn site history. So much work to do in such a rainy year! Come join the fun at 808cleanups.org 🧡🤗🧡

Crest up (sorta) - tail feathers up!! A kidlet at the end of an afternoon visit, getting ready to zip thru the back fence. No short chicken wire fence at this corner of the yard, just the poles of the calibrated fence. #birds roadrunner
