Hello and good morning, this is your 8 day heads up for #Septopolis, my lil' city-builder I share with y'all for September. Starting with this Quarterly, I'm doing a different start time for my own benefit: 6AM EST. โœจ For more details, read on in the thread (please do this if you're new to me). ๐Ÿงตโคต๏ธ

A final good morning for 2026, #Septopolis. It's that day! Do as you will. I'll jingle the jar below but know that it is not out of any need. If anything, today, I encourage you to go find a locally owned establishment in your city and buy something. Maybe learn a fact about your local history!

Good morning, #Septopolis. Today is the silly exercise and community engagement question! If you've been playing solo, feel free to skip today. Otherwise, I am specifically asking you to limit yourself to two other Septy participants (especially because automod is banning/spam labeling people).

Good morning, #Septopolis. We go to the wider, surrounding world now as we approach the end! These relationships might have been lightly established with imports and exports, but what about bigger in scale? Twinning arrangements or even warring cities/nations can work here. ๐Ÿ‘€

Good morning, #Septopolis. Feel free to get as detailed as you want here! Rulers and houses and senates and all that. The voting system (or lack thereof)! Name some leaders! The second question once again draws parallel to the real world as we've all been forced to care in one way or another.

Good morning, #Septopolis. Today's question is on the card and a new one for 2026. I'd like to save the post space to emphasize that these questions are for fictional worlds for any stray visitors. Fictional as they may be, this can be a touchy subject with real world impacts. Be cool. Be chill.

Good morning, #Septopolis. A little more homey and cozy compared to yesterday's places, I want you to share the locations that serve a role we've been losing rapidly in our own world. Where's Bob's pint after work? Where are the game stores that host low cost events? The birdhouse craft workshops?

Good morning, #Septopolis. Let's talk some places to house and display culture. This can also include opera houses, music halls, and festival grounds too! What do they look like? Where are they in the place (rich/poor area)? And what's the most important thing they're showing off, and why is it?

Good morning, #Septopolis. Now let's pivot towards some fun things that keep economies chugging. Sports and pastimes are a good way to keep money flowing, and sometimes that comes from high-level, popular people making it a cultural fixture (see... football and handegg). So what's big here?

Good morning, #Septopolis. Today, I'm more asking for something specific. Your Arasakas and your ACMEs. Maybe your world's "Big Four" accounting firms have taken over. What is their role in this place? Do they drain endlessly or do they recognize their workforce and try to keep them happy?

Good morning, #Septopolis. Soft infrastructure goes a bit wider than what I've mentioned on the card (and has been or will be on other questions), so today is focusing social support system. This can include welfare or whatever term is used for your world if you want more to answer with!

Good morning, #Septopolis. All the "boring" stuff no one wants to think about... but it's so essential! Is water as simple as a stream? Or do they have magic/tech desalination readily available? What's done with garbage and biological waste? Do they have electricity or some kind of equivalent?

Good morning, #Septopolis. Today's question encompasses both personal transport as well as industry's needs, but I'm also curious to know how you choose to handle mass public transport as well (as a goal of our real world!). For maintenance: how is it done and how is it funded?

Good morning, #Septopolis. We're getting into the actual physical "city buildy" stuff now! ๐Ÿ˜ On growth: consider the layout. Was this place a thoroughly planned efficient grid or did it grow naturally over time from an assortment of buildings that popped up where they could?

Good morning, #Septopolis. For today, think of events like State Fairs, ethnic festivals, or evenโ€”if you didn't mention one on religion dayโ€”a community-encompassing religious event. Essentially, anything that brings a large number of residents together to celebrate!

Good morning, #Septopolis. A new question for this year, but I hope it'll be a fun one! What people wear can be inspired by a lot of things, from climate and available resources to social movements reshaping them. This can further speak to their cultural beliefs mentioned a few days ago!

Good morning, #Septopolis. Feel free to tag your MythAugust if it applies here, but today's question is generally about the more "formal" guiding principles for this place, whether that be a structured religion or more philosophical path. How does their practice impact their way of life?

Good morning, #Septopolis. Tell us about the most interesting thing people here benefit from in the technology/magic category! By the culture question, I mean something like how our cellphones and by extension social media have absolutely transformed cultures for better and worse.

Good morning, #Septopolis. What do the people of this place put emphasis on? This could be things like work ethic, how elders are treated, what makes a family, whether there's a tipping culture... But it could also be things like how there are parades and heavy shopping sales for Labor Day (US)!

Good morning #Septopolis. Technically an expansion of yesterday's question, but I wanted to allow it to shine by itself because of how crucial language is to society. Nonverbal languages apply here as well! If you have conlangs and/or associated scripts, feel free to share those too.

Good morning #Septopolis. If you're using this to build something and haven't picked one yet, take today and ponder it (I did this last year in fact!). Then, tell us about how it got this name. It could be serious and directly from in-world or it could be a silly in-joke amongst your friends.

Good morning #Septopolis. Regardless of its current form (unless it is quite baby of a settlement), it had to have been founded with a purpose in mind. ...and because last year it spilled over for a majority of folks, I'm also lumping the who into this question as well.

Good morning #Septopolis. This is a chance to talk about some of your fantastical creations if you have any or, perhaps in less magical settings, how a particular animal or plant was important. For example, a symbol of hope or calamity or a means of survival (dense calories for harsh seasons).

Good morning #Septopolis. We had our familiarity sesh, now we get into what your chosen place will be. Keep in mind that while the -polis implies a city, this can be flexible to meet your needs. However, please consider the SCALE of what your place is: too big might become too difficult.

Good morning #Septopolis! For our first post, we're going slow and spreading the good knowledge of the month around, as well as trying something in an attempt to make the month more manageable for myself. If you have no idea what Septy is, please check my pinned post to avoid jumping ahead! ๐Ÿ“Œ

We're at the end of #Juniplex 2026! Do as you will with today. ๐Ÿ’œ But I am curious to know what discoveries you made about your world through whatever you worked on this month though! (๐Ÿซ™๐Ÿช™ rattle in the reply @ ~6am, but not for me this time! Anything this month is going to our lovely Prof Emily.)

This is a safe creator space because these are FICTIONAL WORLDS. Experimentation? Going after civilians and/or their infrastructure? Cruel and unusual weaponry? What was done in the aftermath? (Please hide this #Juniplex post if you think the content will disturb your day. Take care of yourself.)

Today is National PTSD Awareness Day in the US, so I'm making today's #Juniplex question focused around it and by extension one of two groups with high incidence rates. How does your system handle its vets? How does society at large treat them? Is there even acknowledgment of the lingering ghosts?

Khonri ๐Ÿซœ๐ŸŽƒ @khonri.com ยท Jun 26

There is probably a very non-zero chance of death occurring on the job in your world, so let's talk about it. Fun(?) Fact: When I was researching this topic for #Juniplex, I had no idea that "death gratuity" was a thing. Interesting talk for our walkies and a bit grim if you think too much on it.

It's all on the #Juniplex card, so apparently "thanks" ๐Ÿ˜ฌ to: - 'nam, we have the technology for the EpiPen. - the Cold War, we have us the internet. - WW2, we have radar (and by extension microwave ovens), Penicillin, and freeze drying. - WW1, we have modern sanitary napkins.

Time to take a proper gander at propaganda for today's #Juniplex. This word didn't always have a negative connotation, which might still be the case in your world. Y'all got anything like a military working with games companies to make things like Call of Duty/Ghost Recon?

Khonri ๐Ÿซœ๐ŸŽƒ @khonri.com ยท Jun 23

This was supposed to be #Juniplex Day 6 for D-Day, but it fits better here. This is separate from your legendary/mythological incidents early on. These are the 100% certified real incidents with minimal embellishments. I also love inviting brainworms of "what if?" to how you think about your world.

Bring out the big guns, #Juniplex! If you've got a world like mine where there's magical critters people use for things or "just the guy" to deal with something big, those living ones count for this too! These likely aren't used willy-nilly, so what's the standard around them? Limitations?
