Andi Kennedy: Art & Words 1 / 2
Decided #handmade meant forgoing the digital art this go-round. (Sketched, inked, and colored by hand) Also gave me an excuse to finish another in my #BizarreMenagerie series. #MerMay #Mermaid #Wendigo
Bizarre Menagerie
by @andria-kennedy.com
The Bizarre Menagerie is a series of alcohol marker/colored pencil/gel pen illustrations where I combine mythological creatures with "traditional" animal features.

Time for another sketch versus mid-way finished artwork! Incidentally, all of the finished pieces will be going up in my Ko-fi in June. You know, in case you wanted an original piece of my art. 馃榿 #BizarreMenagerie #unicorn #mermaid #wip

Andi Kennedy: Art & Words 1 / 2
Was I completely lazy on vacay? Nope! I drew SEVEN new digital illustrations and inked the ENTIRE Bizarre Menagerie. (Plus one special sketch) So let's kick off Mutation March, hosted by @galusaurus.bsky.social! (It's like she knew me 馃挋馃悪) #cepholopod #octopus #art #digitalillustration
Andi Kennedy: Art & Words Yes, I will ALWAYS find a way to get a cephalapod into what I'm working on - why do you ask? This wraps up the aerial set of the Bizarre Menagerie! And I'll say it: So proud of how far my wing work has come. 馃槉 #wip #Kraken #dragonfly #bizarremenagerie #sketchbook #art
Andi Kennedy: Art & Words I came up with the idea for the wings before I settled on the mythological creatures to pair with it. Probably should have figured it would turn out cute, regardless of what I chose. Oh, well. #wip #kappa #fairy #bizarremenagerie #sketchbook #art

Two of my biggest concerns for the Menagerie, and you know what? I'm not mad at how they turned out. Even with Tonks coming over to "assist." #wip #chimera #bird #basilisk #moth #bizarremenagerie #sketchbook
Andi Kennedy: Art & Words This might rank up there as one of my wilder ideas, I have to admit. I had no idea where I was going. And I'm still not certain if I entirely like it. But it's bizarre, that's for sure! #wip #Cerberus #butterfly #sketchbook #bizarremenagerie
Andi Kennedy: Art & Words The (teeny-tiny) rational part of my brain: You should start inking and coloring your sketches. The (dominant, outspoken) irrational part of my brain: Sketching beats coping with the outside world. #wip #hippocampus #bat #sketchbook #bizarremenagerie
Andi Kennedy: Art & Words Final (at least until I decide to come up with another one) #sketch of the aquatic set for the Bizarre Menagerie! And - true to form - my brain jumped forward, and I've already started coming up with ideas for the aerial set. #wip #jackalope #whale #sketchbook
Andi Kennedy: Art & Words Was this SUPPOSED to end up taking over most of the page? Not really. Am I mad about it? Also not really. (Two more to go in the aquatic phase of my Bizarre Menagerie!) #wip #wendigo #octopus #sketchbook
Andi Kennedy: Art & Words Apparently my "Bizarre Menagerie" series is going to be aquatic in theme. I knew I wanted to redo the unicorn (the first was practice), but bubbles seem to be a thing now. I only control the pencil. Not the brain. #wipe #sketch #unicorn
