Went for a stroll around the block (not pictured but seen: Downy woodpecker, W. Scrub jay, Stellers Jay, and a dozen collared doves that Merlin cannot pick up no matter how loud they are). I cannot confirm the phoebe it thought it heard but we do get them here so it's not implausible.) #birding

We played Wingspan last night for the first time since I returned from my birdwatching trip to Costa Rica. I only played one bird from the new Americas expansion, but it was one I saw in CR: a Blue-black Grassquit! And I even saw it do its mating dance / hop. #Wingspan #birding

A Moorhen, a large juvenile, on the Beck was the first in months. In recent years, 2 adults regularly seen early in the year, then 4-5 birds as chicks appear in spring. This year, no sign of chicks and only 1 adult max. Floods, dogs, the pond silting up making the area less attractive? #ukbirding

A bright morning with light wind so took a 5k walk from Trescott to Pattingham 08:00-10:30. No 10k year ✅s but fields alive with birds mainly Mipits & Linnet plus 50+ Skylark, Corn & 3+ Reed Bunting, 18+ Yellowhammer, 5 Stonechat, Snipe, ad Peregrine & an all too brief probable Merlin #ukbirding

#birds First time sighting of a Philippine Swamphen. Joy of birding a new country. So many birds that look pretty similar to those from home, except they have the word Philippine in the front and become lifers!
