hi friends, when I put this bird in the Merlin app, it says it is a western tanager? What do you think usually they see more yellow? #Birds #BirdID I was really lucky for me to move this camera here today. I was hoping to get the cedar wax wings, but I got this bird.

A feed for all things Bird ID. Use the hashtag #BirdID to post to the feed. Bluesky needs a place where Bird ID posts come together.
iNaturalist is telling me this is a razorbill. Can anyone confirm? Have always wanted to see one, would be thrilled if so. Spotted off Cromer, Norfolk. #birdID
Is this a Song Sparrow? The behavior seems different. #BirdID I have tons of video right now. I will post them on this thread 🧵
#BirdID Looks like a crow with a gray tuft around the neck and back of the head. Attempts to ID via online searches said "maybe it's just a crow" and I haven't ruled that out, but I don't think I've seen one like that. Pacific NW.

#birds #birdid #birdoftheday spotted this today. would this be a white wagtail as it has quite a white bib?
Unfortunately blurry shot, but kinda nice to see the size and proportion differences between the Yellowlegs species. #birds #shorebirds #BirdID

Crow, rook or raven? Can you tell them apart? 🤔 Ravens are huge (wingspan ~1.5m) Rooks nest in noisy rookeries Crows are clever problem-solvers (hooded crows are only found in W Scotland, Isle of Man & Ireland). More 👉️ buff.ly/2OdJv6d #BirdID Images L to R: Raven, Rook, Carrion crow, Hooded crow
Fea's Type Petrel from Cork, start of August. Did my best to grab frames from the publicly available video, but of course, the quality is awful. Still...to me this seems like a reasonably strong billed bird. Are others seeing something I am not? #irishrarebirds #BirdID #birds #birding #seabirds
Mystery bird call in Penicuik yesterday - it was calling repeatedly but invisibly from trees over a river but seemed to be moving around like a warbler - seen in flight slim and pale underneath and size of willow warbler. Any matches or suggestions? #BirdID
this bird looks very unusual to the other birds. I have in my yard right now, but I’m thinking it’s maybe a juvenile Junco who came out darker and with a darker beak? What do you think? #Birds #BirdID
I need help with ID for this bird. Costa Rica, Arenal province, 6 June 2024. Thanks. #Birds Small, red bird perched on a fence. #BirdID

Greater Spotted Eagle, fulvescens type. 😍😎 You can keep your migrant passerines. You can even keep your sea watching ( a little blasphemous). Eagles are what it's all about! What a stunner! #birds #birdID #birding #birdwatching #raptors #finland
Greater Spotted Eagle. Word of a rare eagle at Laajalahti yesterday evening meant a quick nip down the road for what turned out to be a fulvescens type. Have only seen a couple of these in the past & this was spectacular! 😍😎 #birds #raptors #BirdID #birding #birdsseenin2026 #finland #birdwatching
Blyth's Reed Warbler. Always nice to get a showy singer. Makes a change from a sulky hoor on some western European headland in autumn! 😉 #Birds #birdID #birding #birdwatching #finland
Blyth's Reed Warbler. The ould fella said he hadn't seen one on this trip & fancied seeing one. So a quick stop off at one of my local birds was warranted. Amazed to see him singing so actively this far into July. Fantastic #birds 🪶. 😍😎 Learn that song! 🔊 #birding #birdwatching #finland #BirdID
