Neglected Books My wife and I just watched the closing episode of 70 Up and we both felt a sudden and overwhelming sense of loss. We saw 28 Up in Santa Monica when we'd been married a year and have followed ever since. What a privilege to follow these lives. Our thanks to everyone responsible.

If you're going to make a gritty urban picture called "While the City Sleeps", you'd do well to take advantage of the newest addition to the skyline: L.A. City Hall. MGM shot it over the summer of 1928, and I wonder if this was the first film to use the landmark as a backdrop. ("now" image 2024)
