People online: Uh you really think a news broadcast of aliens would change the world? So hard to believe. Me: Do you not feel joy and love and hope?
I loved it. The ending gave me an unexpected cry that came out of nowhere.
I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would when I saw the hero was the priest from the Knives Out sequal. And I love Coleman Domingo. He seems effortlessly amazing.
I thought the movie was embarrassingly bad. I am still actively angry about it after seeing it 24 hours ago. What a complete waste of resources. The writing is inane, the famous Spielbergian blocking, suspense, wonder are all missing. Absolute disaster.
Remember when I saw Saving Private Ryan in the theater, after the first 40 minutes or so I thought "This may be one of the greatest films of all time" -- and then he Spielberg'd it into overall a very good (but not great) film
what did you think of ready player one
I thought that the 1st act was not good, the 2nd act was pretty good, and the 3rd act was not good. I did think that Emily Blunt was in the fucking zone thorougout, though. Just an inspired, possessed, performance that kept me in it.

Kinda feel like the math guy’s math skills should’ve paid off better in the 3rd act. Like, he could’ve done some math and hacking to upload the broadcast across the world er something. Blunt throwing a 1000 though. B-.

Saw it in a theater with anticipation, forgot most of it now, can’t remember how it ended. Fail.
It's good when filmmakers present a version of the world as they wish it was, especially if they are one of the best filmmakers to ever live!

There's a look that Colman Domingo gives in the finale that immediately melts away any disbelief to me. Hell, everyone's look in that scene as the reveal happens does it for me. Corker of a film.
