Since I had a bad experience with Warhammer (had some GW corpo tell me my painting was crap and should stop), I'm going with Battletech. I collected a few maybe 30 years, and the fandom seems really awesome.

Welcome back! I got into Battletech a couple years ago (after playing in the 80's) as an escape from Warhammer as well. Don't regret it at all, it's an amazing game and setting.

Well, it is also way cheaper to get into and collect, you can play it as classic (crunchier) or Alpha Strike (more like Warhammer style) or even solo (with Aces box) and CGL people are xool folk who are as much fans and nerds as their players.
