Only the most virile of manly men tow a camper 5 times a year because they are afraid of sleeping in a tent.
You don't need to be an 'effete urbanist type' to be against ginormous vehicles. I haul more in my Mazda 3 hatchback than most of the yahoos on the road driving oversize pick-up trucks. If you tow stuff, that's great, but the majority of Americans don't need it.
