In 2nd grade, the teacher had me do roll. I read Sean phonetically as "Seen". A kid corrected me. I insisted that no, S-E-A-N was pronounced "seen". The "A" makes the "E" long and there's no "W" or "H" after the "S" to make the "SH". Look at how DeShawn spells his name. Shawn is how you spell Shawn.
