Excited to see this one! I'm curious what Brennan doesn't know, but wants to know. Seems like he wouldn't allow a question to hang over his head without researching the answer.

@hankgreen.bsky.social I’ve consulted Bonanni (1684), Lister et al. (1688), Rumphius (1705), d'Argenville (1742), Gualtieri (1742), Klein (1753), and Linnaeus (1758). The answer is apparently that we call it Conus geographus because Linnaeus said so. (I think 'geographer cone' is more accurate.)
