In think #1 or #2 fit best for "Arthurian" while all of them work well for horror. My preference is #1.

2 or 4. 3 is a hard no from me. It's too hard to read at a glance. I had to reread it to understand it without using the other examples to help me. 2 or 4 do have the advantage of looking fairly dyslexia-friendly as well.
