Stonea Camp, Cambridgeshire and the first place I ever swung a mattock. Rising to 2mAOD the lowest hillfort in Britain. Ploughed mostly even flatter after the war. Restored 1991-2 by Cambridgeshire County Council. #Hillfort #archaeology #fens 📷 by Bob Castle cc-by-sa 3.0

Positively mountainous compared to Horsey Hill hillfort. Situated along the southern margins of the Flag Fen Basin, this newly discovered Late Bronze Age 'hillfort' sits at 1mAOD. Its ramparts are masked by Iron Age peat.
