Ethan Healey @ethanhealey.com · May 1 As I gazed at who lives within the White House, I reflected on the idea that it was never meant to be known by its color, or its former name, the Executive Mansion. It was, and always has been, the People’s House. This gave me comfort, because it is, in effect, our home.

John Adams demanded that only “honest and wise Men” occupy the home. While that has not been the case, seeing the house reminded me this Republic is much larger than a single man. Ben Franklin wrote that “we got a Republic,” but “only if you can keep it.” We will and we must. (See alt texts)
