the solution is to use alternative discover feeds :p the default discover is useless, but ive occasionally found that alternatives work well enough to find me enough people to follow such that my Following feed works for me.
Funny enough, I do remember that there was something for this. You know, something that would filter out politics stuff and irrelevant content from your feed, and I thought "pfft, this is unnecessary, hshsha" Well, it's changed now.
