Ideally yes, but it's a fairly obvious point that Labour pledged not to do this in their manifesto. You want them to say sorry, we lied?

They’ve got a crazy majority and 4 years. Ignore the lobbyists and overly wealthy, tax unearned income like income, rents, dividends, hedge funds etc. Be brave, use those funds to make things better for the workers. Go on Labour, be brave 🙏

Imagine getting a huge mandate that could have rebalanced society and instead drop a bollock the size of Jupiter.

Listen how they interrupt, don't want her point to be heard

Spot on Grace. There is a vast amount of wealth in this country sloshing around in property and investments not just the super rich but even among the comfortably off older middle class, many of my friends fit this category.

Well said Grace, need a real wealth tax to fix our country
@indar13.bsky.social · Feb 11
Do you mean a hoarding tax? Or maybe a Tobin tax.
@indar13.bsky.social · Feb 11
Define wealth. Well being? Happiness? Satisfaction?

How can @teamlabouruk.bsky.social tax their paymasters?! They don’t have the imagination 2c that a different kind of world is possible. Literally, they’re the most grey, bland, status quo, centre right HR managers stuck in the 90s. Keir does not understand how much the world has changed since 2008

Tax money, not assets. How can you tax land or business assets? Almost all countries that have tried it have revoked it. See the report by the wealth tax commission or that by the oecd.

This is essential to reduce income, wealth, and POWER inequality.

Thank you for not letting this go.

At he very minimum, we need to see a council tax reform, such as shifting to a proportional land value tax. Regulatory alignment with the EU plus joining the PEM can grow the economy -> employer NI can be reverted. If Labour stuffs it up again at the spring budget, the gloves need to come off.

Nicely battled through and ignored the interruption attempts. 👍

I support a land tax, but do wealth taxes work? I'd support them if they worked and the rich didn't just run off.
KayneLLS · Feb 11
Ironically, it's probably the only recipe for this thing called "growth" they always tell us about. That corrupt, they still wont ever do it.
ClimateDad · Feb 11
what about the greens who had it as a policy?

So disappointed with Rachel. If you don't tax wealth and assets of the super rich they buy more assets and get more rich. They're never rich enough. Assets then get more expensive and people can't afford housing etc. Tragic stuff for middle and lower classes taxed to the hilt. Tories win again. 😪

Great performance today Grace. You have many supporters but this Govt are too scared of the Daily Mail and so they have strongly moved to the right - not even centre.
