I think the serious take away is that people wouldn’t be susceptible to pudding brained takes like this if housing for everyone else was a lot more affordable, and there genuinely is - as the telegraph headline puts it - a problem for people on ordinary incomes
Nothing wrong with social rents. It does cause an odd dynamic because of the huge rent inequality. Because there is not a spread of prices, only two types of people can live in an area, the rich and those who qualify for social housing. I'm not convinced this is a healthy dynamic.
