Given that the VPD has consistently refused a public audit of its finances, it's no surprise that questions about their finances are answered in such an opaque and shifty way.
The pds always find excuses for why they can't police our roads but they need extra money to police car free streets? They really must not want y'all to talk to your neighbours unsupervised
Do they not police it at all when it has motor traffic on it?
Maybe they could use it as a training opportunity for the shiny new VPD training centre, that way they could charge the students for it and offer their services to the City of Vancouver free of charge. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I’m no fan of our largely ineffectual RCMP contract policing, but every time I see how astoundingly overpriced municipal forces are, I thank the gawdz we don’t have one.

Ah, like the large groups (10+) of VPD and RCMP officers who were roaming around Granville Island at the start of the Watch Party season “getting to know the area” and asking where to get coffee and how to get to the market
After the England-Mexico game, there was a group of ~10 officers standing in the middle of Granville and Robson. They wouldn't let anyone by, we just had to go around them.

Was at Toronto's lovely Distillery District this fine Tuesday afternoon and spotted FIVE of TO's finest just wandering about. WHY??? Someone gonna nick a petunia plant or steal a tip jar? We are so overpoliced.
City should just hand over the entire budget to the VPD. That way they can gorge on the piggy bank without all that bad press. Besides: Clearly voters want the VPD to run the city. We can save money on council at least.

By removing cars, the street will be safer. Less police are needed there, not more.

And they’re still recruiting for MORE officers - just follow them on Eventbrite to see them constantly posting recruiting events. The ABC council cancelled a minor grant that helped retrofit group homes (which have no govt rebates) so they could have their stupid 0% budget & fund cops to do F all
