What about those who sponsor their spouses on the savings route rather than income (think of a retiree with lots of investments, for example)?
So you have to have piles of money to sponsor your spouse but then they have to work, regardless of family, childcare etc?
That may have been buried in the 'A person who earns £125,140 or more for 3 years can settle in 3 years' lede of today's details on the plan to move the basic wait for ILR to 10 years, subject to 'earned' modification. But it is important given people do (rumour has it) have babies or get sick.
This govt is very, very arbeit macht frei.
