There was a story I was listening to where you imagine you're a watch guy and you collect watches and there's one you always wanted and imagine you trade your watch collection for this one watch and you feel both tremendous loss and accomplishment. Now imagine you just buy all the watches.

I have a theory that part of the reason why so many remakes of video games are getting made is because resellers have utterly tanked the retro games market, and so there’s a lot of money to be made in making these $200-on-eBay games playable again
my local store had a huge influx of preorders for one piece, magic, and pokemon. But regulars, folks who played at that store, complained about not being able to get any. So new policy is to remove the factory plastic seal prior to handing the box over. Now kids can get their pokemon cards again

The low-level local version of this is why I stopped playing Magic: The Gathering after a year or two. The rules are: the rich (relatively) kid wins
The only upside to this is that despite this being the first ever set 90% of the cards in it are largely bad low value cards that have been reprinted thousands of times.

you cant ruin yugioh we have been at troll and scalper players for two decades. card value has more to do with the pretty card art than player value; we lovingly call the waifu tax. and they love reprinting at lower rarities to make sure staples are accessable.
