BEEF To the nursing profession. Although I support and respect the nursing profession, as I like to believe they really care about helping people, I can’t help but object to the “overtime” games that are played amongst them. If overtime and personal phones were banned fatigue would go down and care would improve.
BEEF To the person trying to bully us into EVs. My 11-year-old vehicle is very fuel efficient. I recently rode in an EV on a long drive. Within 15 minutes, I had a headache and heavy/prickly feeling in my chest. I don’t want to travel in an operating “microwave.” Some of us are more sensitive. We feel what you clearly don’t.
BEEF To the restaurant. Every meal was bad. That was the worst food I have ever tasted.
BOUQUET To people who keep their cats inside, because bringing an invasive into the environment that likes to hunt small prey is never a good idea.

BEEF To the people who decided to paint the complete intersection of McCleary and Campbell streets, at Sid Clark Gyro Park. It is a very short-sighted decision. A freshly painted road surface is like a sheet of ice in the rain when riding your bicycle, motorcycle, scooter, car, when braking, even when walking creates a very slippery surface condition. This leaves the municipality open for potential injury claims. You might want to rethink this decision for the safety of all parties using this intersection. In my opinion, not well thought out! Just saying!
BEEF To a taxi driver who changed the price of my fare from 18.67 to 24.00 dollars, very dishonest, I will never use your cab service again, and I will warn others of your shady deeds.
BEEF To the person who is seemingly teaching their kids they are entitled to dawdle around in the crosswalk and obstruct traffic. You are putting your children, yourself, and everyone around you in danger while being incredibly disrespectful of everyone else’s time. Be a better role model.
BEEF To a Nanaimo grocery store for engaging in the deceptive practice of shrinkflation. They reduced the size of deli soups from 700 ml to 625 ml but kept the same price, even after I brought it to their attention. Shoppers, be aware!
BEEF To the city for instructing their lawyer to come after my disability cheques for court costs for a case that was in the public’s interest that I brought against the city, that I had to discontinue before reaching the courtroom. I was self-representing, no lawyer help.

BOUQUET To another driver. On July 6 we had a person drop on the highway beside our car. A massive bouquet and our thanks to the woman in the blue vehicle who took the time to let us know that she witnessed the fellow on the side of the highway, between Rock City Road and the golf course, who considered trying to act like we had hit him. It was so thoughtful of you to take the time. Many thanks for letting us know that you had witnessed it as well, we really appreciated your kindness. Unbelievable that someone would try such a dangerous stunt!
BEEF To the potato growers who inflict spuds with what looks like juvenile acne on us. These black spots on the skin actually penetrate the potato in a remarkably short time.. What happened to the pristine potatoes of years ago? Heaven knows we pay enough for them.

BOUQUET To Nanaimo’s Pokémon GO community ambassadors. Teddy and Ed did a great job organizing the event last weekend at Maffeo Sutton, bringing dozens of players together from young children to seniors for a weekend of raids and lots of exercise!
BEEF To some individuals in Cedar that think that public roads are their playground and it’s OK to make ugly tire marks on the roads. We have to look at these for many years down the road. Please stop.
BEEF To the local comedian who makes a mockery of Harewood. You’re not from Harewood, you’re not funny and you don’t represent the ‘hood. Proceed to take five to 10 minutes to give your head a shake.

BEEF To the taxi driver who was texting for the entire 15 minute trip. Scary to have to watch the road ahead because the driver isn’t. Plus it’s illegal! I wanted to support a local taxi company, but if drivers are not trained maybe it’s time to use Uber.
BOUQUET To the young man who rescued our 8’ x 8’ rug after it had fallen out of our truck. Your kindness was appreciated more than you know. Not only did you save my favourite rug but you took the time to personally deliver it back to Classic Care Carpet Cleaning where we were able to pick it up and bring it home. You have restored my faith that good, kind people do still exist in this crazy world. I’m just sorry we were not able to get your name so we could thank you in person.
BEEF To casinos. I won $7,000 from a casino. Three employees came to investigate that win and ask funny questions like what button you push. I felt like a criminal.
BEEF To grey, grey and more grey. Almost every new building on the Island seems to be painted grey. Are there not any developers or architects with any creativity who think outside the square?
