Vanishing and Endangered Cultures @nowaykgn.bsky.social · Jun 16

The Kalasha women are known for their long, flowing hair. They often braid their long hair, sometimes using intricate or traditional patterns. The Kalasha use henna, known as mehndi, for various cultural and symbolic purposes, including adornment, celebrations, and expressing joy and prosperity.

Exquisite portraits, Kieron. A fascinating history too as I was interested in the Indo-Aryan heritage. We all come from each other!

Beautiful people. So important to preserve these vestiges of culture against corporate spurred global homogenization.

Their expressions are so lively—how adorable they are! The red on their hands is from henna. The color coordination of their outfits is truly beautiful.

Their smiles are beautiful. I remember getting a mendhi tattoo on my wrist & having to cover it up with bracelets or a watch for work. I was corporate management. I'd sit in a boring meeting & fiddle with my wrist reminding me that my job wasn't who I really was. It took me 20 years to break free

beautiful photographs and girls.

Beautiful portraits, each special, capturing true emotions & expressions. It’s only lately I’ve noticed-tho it should always have been obvious fr/the title of your acct-the last 2 tribes esp are rapidly dwindling. Sad their unique customs may go w/their assimilation-be it willing or forced on them🥺.
