I see columns
Structurally, I see columns. Items are mostly vertical rectangles and have more clear alignment on their vertical edges, with even gaps. If I were consuming this content [i.e. reading order], I'd probably be scanning in a roughly jagged horizontal manner, but I still wouldn't call that "rows".

There are definitely no rows. I do see 6 columns though, with some cards spanning 2 columns.
Columns. I can see the inferred "rows" structure but they don't come across as rows.
In this example, I'm showing how a so-called "masonry" layout would fill up if we introduced a little delay before each item getting placed in it. Same question as before: Do you see columns, rows, both, none of them?

I can only see columns. Three columns, each of which is subdivided into two columns each.
Columns, my brain says. But really IMO these layouts contain neither columns nor rows. They are something new since the debut of the web, and particularly since #RWD. A different model of content stacking. The web being the web.

Two unequal columns, the second divided into six lanes, each roughly matching the width of the very first one.
For the first situation I sort of ignore the sidebar and the remainder is seen as a top and bottom section roughly divided by a diagonal line (see screenshot for illustration). For the other cases, columns only.
I see chaos..
One more vote for columns.
