I know that the reload button causes the content to be displayed, but knowing that does not make it is less frustrating to see the page showing up as fast as it goes away by my own actions...
This rarely ever happens to me now but used to be so annoying
We wrote a bit in the server configs that temporarily blocks people who spam the site with too many requests. Once in a while a client calls us asking why the site is down. Maybe it's because you reloaded the same page 100 times in 2 minutes? Yep, it's right there in the log file.
Happened too many times, is why i now duplocate the tab instead

Learning web dev for work has helped me realize that, when this happens, to simplify, the page didn't just happen to load when I clicked refresh, but rather, some running code was still going, preventing the page from rendering, and reloading just stopped that code.
When you click reload, it forces the website to display whatever it loaded up to that point, but is not visible/ready to be shown. So you didn't actually mess up.

I HATE THIS SO MUCH. The number of TIMES a page, program, app, or other thing has updated the very MOMENT I press a button to reload it. Or when I click on something, but a pop-up window or overlay appears beneath the cursor the VERY FRAME I click on something else. WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING
This happens too many times... And each time it does, I lose another piece of my soul.
