The "little granite planet"...

Phineas Tiresias Gama Fury · May 6

Civilisation is in the top left corner, of course. And it leaves out America, for which much thanks.

Annette Shaffer🇨🇦😷 · May 6

Sad. Got me for a bit the first time you posted this, but now I have to make sure @redditspaceviewes.bsky.social never hits my stream ever again.

Nvr4getEpstein · May 6

Reported as misleading. Deliberately attempting to pass off A.I. content as real instead of labeling the content as A.I.

RedCosmonaut · May 6

Strait of Hormuz looks open

Logic L1 👊🇺🇸🐸 · May 6

Do you know that you're posting fakes?

Singular Reality · May 6

Also not from Artemis.

Nobody 78960104 · May 6

Isn’t Scotland looking lovely in this stunning picture 👍

MeteorBlades · May 6

How soon until the Moon smashed into Earth? It’s so close! (Itz a terrific photo.)

Steve · May 6

Looks like the Strait of Hormuz is open ... no, wait ... it's closed ... no, maybe it's open ... maybe not ...

Judy · May 7

Book me on your next flight.

We look good, from a distance

@dahchange321.bsky.social · May 6

Africa and the other countries

@gentlystream.bsky.social · May 6

But our planet looks… stressed

James Band · May 6

There is no artificial light in many places.

Kev · May 6

Ooh. I can see my house from here 😜

@vietvet66.bsky.social · May 6

Funny thing about this photo is I don’t see any of the artificially drawn lines denoting countries! That’s what really makes this photo so alluring to me!

@ireidani.bsky.social · May 7

There are so many real shots from Artemis, why did you bother to post a fake one?

NoMono · May 6

Yep. Looks flat to me!

Sam Treadgold · May 6

There are so many amazing pics from Artemis II that a fake image should not be your favorite

@lady-dem.bsky.social · May 6

Absolutely stunning‼️

Rohan Melling · May 6

I can see my house from here.

Canadian Curmudgeon 🍁 · May 6

Nice image, but it doesn't seem to appear in the NASA gallery of Artemis images. AI generated?

@comtechdiagnostics.bsky.social · May 6

. Still love the Space.com photo from Apollo. My computer wallpaper. .

@blargfatron-ix.bsky.social · May 6

Please stop posting this AI slop

@figmore.bsky.social · May 6

Great Pic from Space&if yall look real close you can see the smoldering "RUINS&CARNEGE" of innoc WOMEN& CHILDREN slaughtered & scattered lifeless bodies from a current vicious genocide ongoing in "Lebanon,Gaza&the Westbank",yeah i know,very difficult to see it while wearing, "ROSE-COLORED-GLASSES"?

Ellie chats & rants · May 6

This is AI The light on earth in relation to the moon isn’t right baltics don’t look like that- Sweden & Finland fused together The Black Sea has gone I think Greece might be under cloud but I’m not certain Looks like there is a hurricane 🤷‍♀️ And the whole of Belgium & Netherlands are on fire

Z3R0🇲🇽 · May 6

That's fake, sorry.

Brandon Cato · May 6

You know what’s beautiful from that vantage point? You can’t see any wars from space. If only life ON Earth was as peaceful as it is above it.

Regweld · May 6

This account has been posting AI garbage lately, just one more to the pile.

The Last Bubble Rises · May 6

See all that destruction from humans? Of course most of you don't. That's the problem.

Dan 🇨🇦 · May 6

That looks like an AI generated composite image.

@jamesmulvihill0823.bsky.social · May 7

so surreal... but beautiful...

Nial Yaldnif · May 6

Very cool. And you can see my house in northern Scotland in the top left hand corner.

EfraGonz · May 6

Fake is the word

Solilequn · May 6

See! It is flat!

Abu Dhabi Dude · May 6

I’m old enough to remember when the space account used to actually post decent images of space rather than AI slop. How the mighty have fallen.

@doc369.bsky.social · May 6

Real or not, it's a nice picture.

Tom Gill · May 7

So beautiful. Too bad we're fucking it up, isn't it?

Marc Woodhurst · May 6

It’s the total absence of the Black Sea that does it for me. The hint that what’s left of the Aral Sea has moved to the eastern fringes of the Sahara looks like some kind of digital artefact from hallucinatory stitching, but that’s a subtle one.

The Viceroy of Colorado · May 6

That's AI generated. The moon is nowhere near that close, not even using forced perspective.

📎The Ghost Army of Fellas! · May 6

I had to save that. I like the angles of that shot. Usually, it's on something. Like on the moon, the picture of earth

@dpbsmith.bsky.social · May 6

AI slop. The earth and the moon are being lit from completely different directions. And there's no reasonable location that close to the earth from which the moon would look that large compared to the earth.

Blackbelt010 · May 6

Great photo! 💖

Unsettled · May 6

Straight, to the moon.

@robertjeff57-58.bsky.social · May 6

Friggin fantastic

@profradii.bsky.social · May 6

Agreed!

Wala Kitu · May 6

There’s no perspective from which the moon can look that big relative to Earth.

Wala Kitu · May 6

So fake!

@ybsky1935.bsky.social · May 6

Even the moon’s eyes are so focused on the Straight of Hormuz and try to guess when this nightmare of American gambling will be over.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN VIEWS · May 6

Oh the irony that the Strait of Hormuz is in this photo.

Bill Mauldin · May 6

Too bad the planet has no intelligent life…

@johnthepiper.bsky.social · May 6

Even more glaringly wrong, is the fact that here the Earth and Moon are illuminated from very different angles. It's physically impossible for this image to be genuine.

@johnthepiper.bsky.social · May 6

Google Lens suggests it's AI. The picture's been posted in several places. Some people say it's from the Japanese Kayuga spacecraft; some say it's from Artemis. It isn't on the NASA website. It's more than strange that a good quarter of the Earth's surface has barely a wisp of cloud. It stinks.

Dr. Tea, Cake, & Revolution. · May 6

Wait: Is that the Strait of Hormuz?

DianneSpiritlight · May 6

Magnificent 🩷

@gypsysoulhippie.bsky.social · May 6

This is amazing

The Gaul of Kanata · May 6

This account mostly posts fake AI slop

Dave Ward 🫀🧠 🇺🇸🚫👑🇬🇱 · May 6

The Black Sea is magically missing. Plus the Earth is in waxing crescent phase while the moon is in waxing gibbous phase, which is impossible lighting. This is a faked photo. With the black sea missing, it's not even real Earth. It's AI generated. How do you forget an entire sea?

MagpieMedia · May 6

Ironic that such an image of our beautiful planet is focused on a region currently being devastated by imperialist wars.

p00ps · May 6

sorry, sorry, sorry. left my lights on.

Mountain girl · May 6

OMG! First time seeing that!

Stately Buck Mulligan · May 6

Ushiec · May 6

Which is the Strait of Hormuz

Cye A. Sterling · May 6

This doesn't even look real

White Plains Rich · May 6

Um, I see there's a block in the strait of hormuz.

PrizeFighter · May 6

I should make a Flat Moon Society and see how many people would fall for it

@aveline72.bsky.social · May 6

is this a real, unretouched photo? where's the orig. URL?

Marco · May 6

Go away

Smiling Chauffeur 🇨🇦⚛️ · May 6

I find it interesting how good the sci-fi special effects movie people from past decades nailed the look of these pictures (not sarcastic or conspiracy meaning).

jimkmm · May 6

MORE AI SLOP!

MindSpikes · May 6

What happened to the moon? It's huuuuge? 😲

Nctwadumela-He who Greets With Fire! · May 6

Endeavor_Madness · May 6

Hey! There's the straight of Hormuz !!!

Anthony P-Calling Bullshit · May 6

You can clearly see the Straight of Vermouth.

pjbickel 🇺🇸 · May 6

Look, everyone knows that this is AI, but using the term "slop" to refer to it is something completely fresh and original, and I've never heard it before. I'll have to remember that one. Everybody knows this is the real one, because the Earth isn't fucking round. Duh.

pjbickel 🇺🇸 · May 6

Hey space, if you're holding back hurtling that moon at us...I think you can go ahead and let it go. We did our best. Well, not really, I mean we rode jet-skis and drank beer and invented breast implants and something called "Mar-a-lago face" so I wouldn't call it "best". So, go ahead and let it fly

HydroKeychain=RadicalLeftScum,Fool,Dumocrat · May 6

The cell phone ruined picture format orientation.

Liberal Libbie · May 6

Yes!

@lernscisoc.bsky.social · May 6

is that real? amazing

Mr. RB (UK) 💚🇪🇺🇺🇳🇺🇦 · May 6

Is there a link to this on the #NASA website?

Alexandre 🐣 · May 6

Nice shot, but I prefer the next one…

A Million Bouncy Balls · May 6

Not real. Try again. =(

Wesley Hind · May 6

How? The shadowed on area on both bodies should be roughly the same. Clearly they are not in the image. I don't understand the need to pollute. What need does this meet? Why not just label the account as space inspired art or something similar. Anyway, will be actively dodging this a/c going forward

@icefragrance.bsky.social · May 6

That looks like a lot of desert.

@fredgarvinstruss.bsky.social · May 6

Somebody left the lights on in France apparently

WTAF! · May 6

Ironically featuring the Straits of Hormuz.

Chaos Theory Man · May 6

Wow!!

DIYLifer · May 6

A ton of light pollution coming from France.

Proud Lefty CW💚🏳️‍🌈🇬🇧🇮🇷🎧 · May 6

I apologise in advance for what I'm about to say. I really am trying hard to believe it was taken by Artemis ii. But many things make me doubt it. Not least that there is virtually no cloud over Africa, Europe or Asia. The image looks AI generated. If I am right, the prompter forgot some details.

TorrentOfWarTTV · May 6

actual pic showing moon from low Earth orbit...
