I’m going to go full nerd for a minute here, bear with me, but: While books that have been professionally edited have a lot of value, the idea that they’re the *only* kind that have value or are “real” isn’t just snobby, it’s (brace for buzzword) colonialist, classist bullshit. 🧵

Our editing, publishing, & distribution systems are built on foundations of exclusion and a deeply held belief that *only* what the cishet white colonialist establishment deems worthy is of any intrinsic value. And I don’t even just mean subject matter—I mean grammar rules, story beats, all of it.
