Fun fact: while most bacteria are very small (around 1 micron in diameter), I study the world's largest bacteria, known as Thiomargarita. They can be 1000 microns (1 mm) in diameter, but most are around 200-400 microns. Here's a picture of a fruit fly next to a few Thiomargarita cells - top left.
