#WriteStuff A3 - Oh, God, I just thought of another one - E. L. James, of "50 Shades of Grey" fame. Anastasia Steele spent to much time biting her lip, repeatedly. Christian Grey didn't practice ethical bondage. It was abuse. And James's writing in general was atrocious!

#WriteStuff A3 - I honestly can't think of many since when I run into a bad book esp. with horrid characterizations I tend to throw it across the room. 🙀 I've seen dreadful characters from self-published indie authors. Also, Ayn Rand comes to mind. She didn't create characters. She wrote polemics.

#writestuff A3 Again, a standard answer, freakin' Stephanie Meyer. I was one of those, relentlessly ragging on Twilight went it came out. Friends of mine insisted I read it, I did. Their mistake, as all it did was give me confirmation ammunition to lob that those characters were absolutely garbage.

#WriteStuff A3 This is harder to answer than I would expect. It's easy to snipe at Edgar Rice Burroughs, so I guess I will: if anyone could tell the difference between John Carter, Carson Napier, and David Innes, they're paying attention to something that I couldn't see.

A3: I read a short story years ago where everyone was depressed or stoned. How is that creative or interesting? #WriteStuff

1/Ok, I know this is going to be a hot take, but as much as I love Roald Dahl’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, as an adult, I realize how weak Charlie as a character is. One might argue that he’s supposed to be perfect to contrast the other kids, but the fact that he *never* does wrong?

#WriteStuff This is a difficult one. Usually if characters don't grab my interest within the first few pages, I DNF the book, so anything with bad characterization is just forgettable and leaves my memory pretty quick.

Blehhh there’s a list. I’d say any author that perpetuates racism and such while claiming they defend it. #writestuff
