Oh, sweetie - I'm IBM System 3 Model 6 old. You know, the big old hunk of iron that had no display, just a line printer that printed (eponymously) a single line ON PAPER after you hit the Enter key.
Don't forget using ftp in the browser that was a trip.
Did the same with TextPad but at least that had templates! That's how I learned HTML.... TextPad templates. haha

Win98, yes that was a while ago but I remember when windows 95 was released with their 27 3.5" floppies to install or even older I remember my first pc, Univac's first PC, a 8086 with a dip switch for a fast 8mhz speed option, 5.25" floppy, no hard drive, no graphic & basic, not gwbasic.

Oh my word. I started with the AT&T Vi and then moved on to MS-DOS edlin. When I interviewed years ago with a company (for an admin job), they asked what program I used for creating website and I said, "Notepad". She about fell out of her chair ...
I learned to code by building silly Geocities sites in middle school, then started making pocket money by doing custom HTML on Xanga, LiveJournal, and MySpace.
I stared on a 286 with dos. Then went to a 386 with Windows 3.1, then windows 95. Windows 2k was always the GOAT.
My Windows XP still working fine. Best OS Microsoft made.

Real coding! Me too. Best part of writing programs was to execute them and find very few bugs. Satisfaction level was extreme!

There used to be a webring for notepad-generated websites, lol. Mine was on there. It also had midi background music and an animated gif of a rotating can of Spam. It was a monstrosity.
Respect. Back in my desktop support days, I learned to build computers with MFM hard disks and manual IRQs. I remember “plug & pray”. I set up token ring networks with WinNT. 😬 If you had a 512 MB hard drive, you were a god among mortals. I’ve seen things. Terrible things.

Much older, sadly. But the things I've seen... I was one of the prerelease candidates for Windows 1.0. Yeah, that one. That was before hard drives. Before 3.5" floppies, even. I remember when those little things hit the market. Massive progress, for the time. And now, we have AI.

Back when Windows NT4's Explorer (Exploder) wouldn't let you go to netscape.com to download Navigator - had to go to download.com and get it - once Navigator was installed, explorer would then let you go to netscapecom !! - 28 years ago and it seems like yesterday!

I'm so old that I used that computer before it yellowed. I'm so old that Windows was a program you started after the computer booted. I'm so old that my screen came in two colors, green and black. I'm so old that the media that held my games could also be played in a boombox.
My first computer was a CDC 128. 1982. (Columbia Data Products) Two 5-1/2 floppies. No hard drive. No mouse. No modem. Used it for letters and spreadsheets. Ran Lotus 123. Had a scheduling program called VisiSchedule. Everything was done in DOS.

Kids today have no idea how easy they have it being able to google, copy, and paste all their code. Or using AI to generate everything for them. The "good old days" of having to look in a book and hope you don't screw it up and long gone. New developers are spoiled and it shows.

My first windows based PC was second hand windows 95 that someone had deleted all the drivers off. I had to somehow make the modem work, browse the internet in 16 colors till I found all the drivers and installed them. It was a learning curve.
HTML 1.0 here, before 1.1, xhtml. Windows, I started at 3.0, DOS with 4. That was after the Amigas. I am old :/
