It’s fun.

No more a sci-fi/horror movie, just a documentary. WAKE UP! THEY ARE TAKING AWAY EVERYTHING FROM COMMON PEOPLE
Dr Negrin's Victory Pills · Jul 17
Fabulous film! Great piece of satire and, as he often did, Carpenter was privileging the lives of working class people.

Surprisingly good.

I love movies that can tell a complete and compelling story in less than 100 minutes.

I worked in TV with the editor of that. He told me that they could have made the "Put on the glasses!" fight an hour long with the footage they had, and if Roddy had had his way they would have

It's cool in a way. The only problem is (spoiler alert) everyone gets killed in the end.

The line actually originated in the 1973 blaxploitation comedy-drama Five on the Black Hand Side. In a famous barbershop scene, a Black character delivers a fast-talking, rhythmic "proto-rap" monologue. "I ain't giving up nothing but bubblegum and hard times, and I'm fresh out of bubblegum."

Good film - very underrated.

Rowdy Roddy. This should not have been his only real movie.
@generousparasite.bsky.social · Jul 17
Hope you're fully stocked on bubblegum!
Clive Woodbridge · Jul 17
Great film despite or because of the fight scene.
Ralph Houston · Jul 17
I thought that was the news...
Warren · Jul 17
Don't forget to bring bubblegum
Biltong Baggins · Jul 17
Carpenter’s take on 1984, love that flick.
Abbie Coughman · Jul 17
The director John Carpenter said his film was about Reagan and conservatives in the Eighties. Sucks it’s even more apropos now. Good film.
Mauisrf7 · Jul 17
Rowdy Roddy so great to watch a true cult classic
Lawrence van Rijn · Jul 17
I never saw that movie, don't know why. Carpenter is a great director.
