I live in a national park county, home of the Redwood State and National Parks system. The state parks are fully funded, and fortunately, that is where people camp. We are now in the second year of volunteers manning gift shops and cleaning bathrooms on the NPS side. This is NOT sustainable!
Their priority is themselves and raping children. That's the gop, that's maga, that's republicanism, and that's Dirty Diaper Donny Trump's only ability.
It's because they want to sell off the parks, and/or open them to resource-stripping and development.
Narcissus requires a reflecting pool and I hope it works just like in the famous Greek myth.

And in Canada, at the same time, the government has made all Federal Parks free for Canadians.
Haven’t they actually opened up public lands to have companies soak up all natural resources.
Because to them, national parks are places to cut down wood from, build datacentres on, and pollute until the land is dead, rather than something to be preserved and kept alive...
Most of the staff has been let go so national parks are self-service now…guessing the bears r running on same principle since no one will be there to keep track of campers who don’t understand to keep food out of tents or basic wildlife rules like don’t pet the crocodiles!

A reflecting pool works because its floor is dark. A swimming-pool blue floor reflects less, which is the opposite of the reason given for the job. That part keeps getting lost in this. Wrote about the optics and the long history of it here: open.substack.com/pub/josephth...

I agree the painting of the reflecting pool is wrong but it could have been worse. Knowing he has neither class nor taste, red would not be surprising to match the awful caps they all wear.
What’s worse…Democrats are terrible at the messaging game. Iran’s LEGO videos are so good at it.
As a volunteer in the NPS I can attest this is true. We’re badly in need of electrical repairs that might cost $50k for an electrician for a couple days. So the pool painting and the bronze horse gilding with gold both have delayed repairs. Good luck with that power source! Use a surge protector.
