IMHO theater seating should begin behind the highlighted rows and no seating should be there. Is there anyone who actually likes sitting in the highlighted seats? Genuinely asking.

The 15 year olds who don't know they are extremely shitty seats. I was that kid once.... only once....

Yeah I've gone front row before, it's never as close to the screen as the map suggests. Genuinely enjoyable, if my only options are the frontmost row or the very back I'll take front row every time.

I did when I was younger and my neck was less vulnerable to just kinda sticking in a position if I hold it there too long lol

i would go as far as to say all those front row seats should go, there's no point in watching from there if i can't see most of whats happening or hurting my neck.

It's even worse if you're watching something with subtitles.

I never sit anywhere in that whole front section if I can avoid it. I was, however, stuck in the front row far right one time for Star Wars. My friend and I had to physically turn our heads back and forth to read the opening crawl because the whole screen couldn’t fit within our glasses frames

I love sitting close, but while row C is my favorite, the dropoff in preference for B and A is steep. So, agree.

Yes, no one in front of me & I'm close up. I understand it's unpopular cuz I only do it when seeing a movie alone I get that the angle at the screen is a bit worse too, just somehow it appeals to me

If given the option I will always choose the front row of a theater. I get to see the movie before anyone else in the theater!

i like the screen to fill my whole field of vision. i don't mind if have to look up.

It was good exactly one time when I saw UP when it was released and was therefore staring directly up (lol) keeping all the tears and snot from escaping my face. 👍

Not in imax because you'll hurt your neck, but in some of the smaller AMC rooms I prefer the front rows because it makes the screen fill my field of vision. I find the exit signs distracting, and in the rooms with smaller screens the back row sometimes feels like watching TV

I used to work with some I had to stop going to movies with because they EXCLUSIVELY wanted to be in the front row seats. Like my G you can't actually touch the actors, why do you need to be that close?
Tristan Call · Mar 25
If we're being REALLY kind, I'd say it depends on the theater, but, ESPECIALLY if we're talking IMAX, those seats are akin to arena seats behind a pillar: Only there to scam poor people.

when i was a teen i showed up late to Transformers (2007) and had to sit in the very front row - my only memory of the film is swirling metal and an overwhelming need to vomit
