I think it was cute when jan misali did it but now I keep seeing it put on videos that DO actually sound interesting and it turns me off so fast lol
I’ve been considering doing one of these “I promise this is interesting” thumbnails for a video I’ve been planning but in my defense it’s a video about copyright law so I do genuinely need to convince people it’s not boring
i started collecting these like pokemon cards
Every single one of these I've given a shot has been underwhelming or poorly put together
my main gripe is that they're just Not their own thumbnail style. the original one was just how jan misali makes thumbnails because that's how his videos look, every single other one that's copied the "i promise this is interesting" thing just Makes it the exact fucking same there's no creativity
when it ends up being an interesting question but an uninteresting answer I end up blocking the channel from recommendations

You're only allowed to say "I promise this is interesting" if it's not obvious that the video is interesting, but there also must be a visible POSSIBILITY of being interesting or else nobody will believe you
when jan misali did it, it was fun when everyone else started copying it, it got annoying

i remember seeing one that didn't even have graphics on the thumbnail, literally just white text going "watch this video pls i promise you'll like it" like come on
it bugs me so bad bc the reason why it works on jan Misali's Mario videos is because the videos are more about the ambiguity of the question the title asks than just answering the question straightforwardly. whereas other people just put it on incredibly straightforward videos like well now what
the first time I saw one of these thumbnails I instinctively wrinkled my nose at it. now every time I see one, I tell youtube to stop showing me that channel. show some dang commitment to your brainrot. have some pride and dignity about it!!
Best part about trends like this is when you attempt to follow in the footsteps it probably won't work so now we have 8 million videos with (this is interesting i promise) in the thumbnail
It's like all those videos like "I played 100% of (game). It was awful" and I just think "why are you doing these things that you seemingly do not enjoy doing. Why should I watch you do something you don't enjoy"
it pisses me off so much lmao. it started from that jan misali video about mario games that actually *was* interesting. it just had a dry title so they gave it that thumbnail. now every two-bit nobody saw that vid get popular and aped the thumbnail without actually making an interesting video
