People have probably not been using the full power of these chips since about iphone 12. Apple ingeniously replatformed the chip to macos/mac where it's real power can be fully tapped. The next generations of Neo will use the A19, A20, etc and will be even faster. (I use a Neo for dev)

I have a MacBook Pro M3 Max on my desk and my new little Neo has become my go-to EDC device. 1. It's cheap enough that I won't cry too much if something happens too it. 2. It's shockingly capable for such a little package. Shockingly.

Techy Ben · Apr 25

It's a sleeper for sure!

Frank Patrick · Apr 25

It’s inexpensive for a reason. You didn’t read the specs first?

iPhone chips are stacked Apple just limits them

Prayag’s Repost Dump (I MAKE ART) · Apr 25

Apple silicon baybee 😎

Lord Gwýðion · Apr 25

im confused, if you wanted to game then why did you buy a mac?

Peter Mulholland · Apr 25

It's an "iPhone chip" on steroids.. its closer to the chip in a Nintendo Switch 2 or Steam Deck than an iPhone though

Ryan · Apr 25

Just got myself an M5 air not long ago and it keeps impressing me what this little thing is capable of. Love this new line of Macs

@numberz0.bsky.social · Apr 25

Yeah, the fact i can play resident evil 4 remake on an iphone still confuses me

Vanguard · Apr 25

Today's hardware is crazy fast... phones can even run Cyberpunk when they are using emulation... It's crazy to think we might soon be able to carry our Steam library around in our pockets! youtu.be/hF8sEbcT1oM

you bought crapple and you are surprised you got scammed ?

*Smiles serenely. The A/M series chips have been a revelation since 1st going into a (i)Phone and RE-volutionising the Mac with the M1. The A18 is more powerful than the M1 and comes with ray tracing. Apple picked their battles with the MacBook Neo. Great screen, Great chip and Great materials.

I was considering it to give a Mac another try (long time 68K-PowerPC user, left when they switched to intel) - but it also lacks a backlit keyboard and I write for a living, so... 🙄

AndyDread · Apr 25

now max out the graphics settings.

Jesus. Return that shit. What a joke. Most people wouldn't notice. They get to charge huge amounts of money, but the inside is your phone. Bitch just ads a keyboard and screen.

HAFFY BURFDAY!!!

I still dont want one

Ree, Tactical Little Freak · Apr 25

Shiiiiiiit You think it can run the monster hunter?

Niko · Apr 28

It's capability is slightly disturbing.

🌸 Manchildalorian (デビッド) 🌸 · Apr 25

Yeah I can't find a lot of games that will run on MacBook, but there's a Mac client for Star Wars the Old Republic and that will run at 30 FPS on minimum.

Free6T · Apr 26

*giggles as i run 3ds games on my neo*

carla · Apr 25

i love mine! it’s a cool little laptop

Apple’s been in ARM stuff since the A still stood for Acorn. Now that they’re wholly using custom ARM chips, it’s going nuts.

Tomiply · Apr 25

Too bad it's unplayable at 30fps. At least 60fps is needed for a first-person game if you ask me.

Gelatin Skeleton 🏴🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ · Apr 25

Running the bench at 30 means it's gonna tank hard in combat Good luck

skuncc🏳️‍⚧️ · Apr 25

that game succs. enjoy the computer!!

Chris Who? · Apr 25

Dude, it's Apple! They won't make anything useful for under $600.

@disloyalblend.bsky.social · Apr 25

YES!!! Let’s keep buying stuff from the fascist tech oligarchs and their enablers! Super smart move!

🇵🇸 Fuck Fascists 🏳️‍🌈 · Apr 25

Yeah, but it's MacOS. Sure, it's better than Windows, but I'd still choose Linux instead 10 out of 10 times. Asahi is getting there, but it's still not good enough to rely on everyday.
