is カラス (karasu) the actual Japanese word for 'crow' and it was just a sort of a coincidence? If it were just a loan-word would クロス sound closer? Of course, what do I know? I've got the Japanese vocab of a mildly concussed 子犬

What I'm marveling at, based on all the posted signs, is in these parts of Japan crows are more likely to attack garbage than rats do, and are more of a food-snatching menace than gulls? Good work, corvids!
